Agassiz


AGASSIZ  () is a rural community south of HARRISON HOT SPRINGS at the head of the FRASER VALLEY 35 km west of HOPE. The original settler was Lewis Agassiz, postmaster of Hope, who pre-empted farmland at the site in 1862. He named the spot Ferney Coombe; the CPR changed the name to Agassiz in the 1880s. A Dominion Experimental Farm was established here in 1888....
