De Courcy Islands


DE COURCY ISLANDS are a string of low islands tucked between VANCOUVER ISLAND and GABRIOLA and VALDES islands, south of NANAIMO. They are among the most northerly of the GULF ISLANDS. The largest of the group are Mudge, Link, Ruxton, Pylades and De Courcy islands. Michael De Courcy was commander of HMS Pylades, a British naval vessel on the coast from 1859 to 1861.
