Dilworth, Ira


DILWORTH, Ira, broadcaster (b 25 Mar 1894, High Bluff, MB; d 23 Nov 1962, Vancouver). He grew up in the OKANAGAN VALLEY and VICTORIA, where he was a schoolteacher from 1915 to 1926 and a high school principal from 1926 to 1934. While in Victoria he befriended the artist Emily CARR, whose career as a writer he later promoted and for whom he acted as literary trustee. He moved to VANCOUVER to teach English at UBC from 1934 to 1938, then joined CBC Radio, where he directed BC operations from 1938...
