DRABEK, Jan, writer (b 5 May 1935, Prague, Czechoslovakia). In his teens he left his native Czechoslovakia, where his father had been active in the underground during WWII, and lived for several years in the US, India, Austria and Germany. He arrived in VANCOUVER in 1965, decided to stay, and taught high school for 10 years before becoming a full-time writer.
