DUKE, Daryl, film director-producer (b 8 Mar 1929, Vancouver; d 21 Oct 2006, Vancouver). After graduating from UBC in 1950, he began working for the National Film Board in Ottawa as a film editor, writer and director. In 1953 he produced some of the first shows on CBUT, CBC's VANCOUVER television station, and went on to produce and direct many successful CBC programs, including Close Up, Quest and Explorations.
