Elk Falls


ELK FALLS is a WATERFALL on the Campbell R just west of the community of CAMPBELL RIVER on VANCOUVER ISLAND. The falls became the object of development plans beginning in the 1890s when the Campbell River Power Co gained water rights there. Plans to build a HYDROELECTRIC dam were thwarted by WWI. The falls were a favourite destination for sightseers and a teahouse operated at the spot from 1933 to 1938.
