Elliott, Andrew Charles


ELLIOTT, Andrew Charles, lawyer, politician, premier 1 Feb 1876–25 June 1878 (b circa 1828, Ireland; d 9 Apr 1889, San Francisco). A lawyer in London, he came to practise in BC in 1859. He was appointed a county court judge for YALE and HOPE, then a GOLD commissioner and magistrate at LILLOOET. After the colonies of VANCOUVER ISLAND and British Columbia united in 1866, he became high sherriff, then police magistrate in VICTORIA.
