Engen

ENGEN, a farming (see AGRICULTURE) and LOGGING settlement 100 km west of PRINCE GEORGE on the CNR and the Yellowhead Hwy (Hwy 16), was named after Fred Engen, a local pioneer. The Plateau SAWMILL was founded here by Dave Martens in the 1940s. Owned by CANFOR LTD, the mill is one of BC's largest producers of dimension lumber (350 million board ft/yr).
