FISHING, SPORT, has long been one of the most popular recreational activities in BC. Saltwater sport fishing takes place everywhere along the coast. In the Interior there are thousands of LAKES and RIVERS that provide freshwater fishing opportunities. In 2002 about 613,000 people—residents and visitors—bought sport fishing licences annually.
