Forestdale

FORESTDALE, 75 km southeast of SMITHERS, was homesteaded in the early 1900s and originally known as South Bulkley. GRAND TRUNK PACIFIC RWY workers settled here after 1914; by the 1920s a school, store and church had opened. AGRICULTURE and LOGGING were the main occupations. The post office closed in 1965 and the settlement has mostly dispersed.
