Fruitvale

FRUITVALE, village, pop 2,025 (2001), is situated in the picturesque Beaver Valley, in the W KOOTENAY near the US border. It began as a stop on the GREAT NORTHERN RWY called Beaver Siding and took the name Fruitvale in 1906, when land developers thought it might be more appealing to potential settlers. Incorporated in 1952, it has developed as a residential community for TRAIL, 14 km west.
