Fulford Harbour


FULFORD HARBOUR, 40 km north of VICTORIA on southern SALTSPRING ISLAND in the GULF ISLANDS, is a picturesque hamlet at the east end of the fertile Burgoyne–Fulford valley (see AGRICULTURE). A ferry runs between here and Swartz Bay on VANCOUVER ISLAND. A number of HAWAIIAN families settled in the area in the 1860s and 1870s and helped build St Paul's Catholic church from 1880 to 1885.
