GENERAL MOTORS PLACE is a 20,000-seat arena in downtown VANCOUVER, home to both the VANCOUVER CANUCKS hockey team and the VANCOUVER GRIZZLIES basketball team. Built at a cost of $163.5 million by ORCA BAY SPORTS AND ENTERTAINMENT, then controlled by the Griffiths family (see Frank GRIFFITHS), the arena opened in Sept 1995.
