Gething, Mount

GETHING, MOUNT (el 1,827 m), 100 km west of FORT ST JOHN in the PEACE R district, and nearby Gething Crk are named after members of the Gething family. Jim Gething was a pioneer COAL mine developer in the HUDSON'S HOPE area, and his civic-minded son Quentin "King" Gething followed in his footsteps. Gething was also the name of one of the enormous construction camps that sprang up in the 1960s to build the BENNETT DAM.
