GOLF as an organized sport began in BC in 1892 with the formation of the VANCOUVER Golf Club. Soon after, the 14-hole VICTORIA Golf Club course in OAK BAY (Nov 1893) and the VGC's 9-hole course at JERICHO BEACH were constructed as official courses. When the Oak Bay course expanded in 1895 it became BC's first 18-hole course and it remains the third-oldest course in N America at its original location.
