KAPP, Joe, football player (b 19 Mar 1938, Santa Fe, NM; d 8 May 2023, San Jose, CA). After leading the Univ of California to the Rose Bowl in 1958 he played 2 seasons with the CFL's Calgary Stampeders. He joined the BC LIONS in 1961 in a 4-for-1 player trade. As quarterback and undisputed leader he led the Lions to the Grey Cup final in 1963 and to the championship the following year.
