Kathlyn Lake

KATHLYN LAKE, 5 km northwest of SMITHERS in the BULKLEY Valley, was originally called Chickens Lake after Jimmy Chickens, an elderly DAKELH (Carrier) man who sold GROUSE, or "chickens," to the early settlers. Photographs of this beauty spot were used in GRAND TRUNK PACIFIC RWY brochures and officials renamed it after the daughter of W.P. Hinton, general manager of the railway.
