Kokish

KOKISH  () , 52 km southeast of PORT HARDY near BEAVER COVE on VANCOUVER ISLAND, was a truck LOGGING camp situated on the Kokish R and run by CROWN ZELLERBACH CANADA LTD. In operation from 1955 to 1985, the camp boasted a school and post office and had a peak population of more than 200 people. The name may derive from a Kwakwala term for "broken or notched beach."
