Laumann, Silken Suzette


LAUMANN, Silken Suzette, rower (b 14 Nov 1964, Mississauga, ON). She began ROWING at age 17 and joined the Canadian national team in 1983. After winning an Olympic bronze medal in double sculls in 1984 (with her sister Danielle) she moved to VICTORIA and in 1991 became the first Canadian woman to win a world championship in single sculls. That year she was named Canada's outstanding athlete. While preparing for the 1992 Barcelona Olympics she suffered a leg injury that threatened to end her...
