Lazo

LAZO, an AGRICULTURAL district 6 km north of COMOX on VANCOUVER ISLAND, was settled in the 1890s by DAIRY and poultry farmers. Charlie Piggott ran a store and post office here from 1910 to 1920. Nearby Little River is the terminus for ferries to POWELL RIVER. Much of this area is now occupied by Canadian Forces Base Comox. Lazo is also the name of the nearby cape that extends eastward into GEORGIA STRAIT.
