Lear

LEAR, 9 km northeast of HOPE beside the Coquihalla R, was a station on the KETTLE VALLEY RWY named by Andrew McCULLOCH, the railway's chief engineer, and his enthusiam for the plays of William Shakespeare is also reflected in the names of a number of stations on this section of the railway—Othello, JESSICA, Portia, Iago, Romeo, Juliet. The line was opened in 1916 and abandoned in 1959.
