LIVESAY, Dorothy, poet, social worker (b 12 Oct 1909, Winnipeg; d 29 Dec 1996, Victoria). One of the finest poets of her generation, she began writing as a teenager and published her first book of poems, Green Pitcher, in 1928. After studying in France she returned to Canada in 1932 and became a social worker.
