MacGILL, Helen Gregory, journalist, judge (b 7 Jan 1864, Hamilton, ON; d 27 Feb 1947, Chicago). The first woman graduate of Trinity College, Univ of Toronto, she moved to California with her first husband in 1892. In San Francisco she worked as a journalist and co-edited a suffragist newspaper (see WOMEN'S SUFFRAGE). After her husband died, she married James MacGill and moved to VANCOUVER in 1901.
