MACLEAN, Malcolm Alexander, real estate promoter, first mayor of Vancouver (b 14 July 1844, Tiree, Scotland; d 4 Apr 1895, Vancouver). As a small boy he immigrated to Upper Canada with his parents. He taught school briefly, moved to New York City to work for the Cunard Steamship Co, then went back to Ontario and set up as a storekeeper.
