Mallandaine, Edward


MALLANDAINE, Edward, architect (b 1827, Singapore; d 1905, Victoria). After training and working as an architect in England, he came to BC for the first time during the 1858 GOLD RUSH and later returned to teach in a private school for boys (see EDUCATION, PRIVATE). In 1866 he opened an architectural practice in VICTORIA. His major commission was the old Customs House and Post Office on Government St. He also designed hotels, churches—of which St Luke's on Cedar Hill and St John's at COWICHAN...
