Masset


MASSET, village, pop 926 (2001), on the north shore of Graham Island, is the largest community on the QUEEN CHARLOTTE ISLANDS. Also known as New Masset, it was established in 1907 as Graham City, but changed its name to Masset in 1909 when it obtained a post office. It became the first incorporated village on the islands in 1961. Commercial FISHING has been an important employer.
