McBride


McBRIDE, village, pop 711 (2001), on the Yellowhead Hwy (see ROADS AND HWYS) 207 km east of PRINCE GEORGE, was founded during the construction of the GRAND TRUNK PACIFIC RWY (1906–14) and named for Premier Richard MCBRIDE. The local economy relies on AGRICULTURE and the FOREST INDUSTRY, and McBride is the service centre for the surrounding ROBSON VALLEY.
