McCARTHY, Grace Mary (Winterbottom), politician (b 14 Oct 1927, Vancouver; d there 24 May 2017. She opened Grayce Florists in 1944 and was a successful businessperson when she launched her political career by winning election to the VANCOUVER parks board in 1960. After 6 years on the board she switched to provincial politics, running successfully for SOCIAL CREDIT in the 1966 election. She was minister without portfolio in W.A.C. BENNETT's last government, then lost her seat in the 1972...
