McGuigan


McGUIGAN, a siding on the KASLO & SLOCAN RWY 58 km north of NELSON, was named for a local prospector, as was nearby McGuigan Crk. A townsite was laid out in 1892 and a number of mines (see MINING) were soon served by a store and 3 hotels. The K&S abandoned the section of line near McGuigan in 1909 and a FOREST FIRE destroyed much of the area the following year.
