McMurdo


McMURDO, a LOGGING and farming settlement (see AGRICULTURE) on the COLUMBIA R 24 km southeast of GOLDEN, was also a station on the CPR's KOOTENAY branch. It was named after Archie McMurdo, a local prospector who became the first settler.
