Meadowlark

MEADOWLARK, western (Sturnella neglecta), is a plump, ROBIN-sized bird known for its beautiful flute-like song. Meadowlarks occur predominantly in Interior GRASSLANDS habitat, where they build their nests on the ground, camouflaging them beneath canopies of woven grass. Their backs are mottled brown-grey in colour and their fronts are a bright lemon yellow. With their long, pointed bills, they feed mainly on INSECTS and seeds.
