Norman, Percy


NORMAN, Percy, swim coach (b 14 Mar 1904, New Westminster; d 26 May 1957, Vancouver). He was Canada's top SWIMMING and DIVING coach for 25 years. As head coach of the VANCOUVER Amateur Swim Club he taught thousands of young people and many of them, including George ATHANS Sr, Joan Langdon, Helen STEWART and Lynda Adams Hunt, dominated their specialties in Canada. His legacy of success continued through coaches he trained including Stewart, Ted Simpson, Bob Gair, Jack POMFRET and Howard Firby....
