Ochiltree

OCHILTREE, a ranching (see CATTLE INDUSTRY) district 30 km northeast of WILLIAMS LAKE, was named by William Carson, an early settler and the first postmaster, after his hometown in Scotland. A well-known CARIBOO commune, which still exists under the name CEEDS (Community Enhancement & Economic Development Society), got its start here in the mid-1970s.
