Oriole


ORIOLE is a beautiful perching songbird, a summer migrant to BC from southern wintering grounds. Orange or yellow and black in colour, it is found in deciduous woodlands where it builds its hanging sac-shaped nest. The oriole uses its strong, pointed bill to feed on INSECTS and small fruit. Two varieties occur in BC: Bullock's oriole (Icterus bullockii) inhabits the western and southern Interior, and its close relative, the Baltimore oriole (I. galbula), is found in the PEACE R district....
