Oweekeno First Nation


OWEEKENO  () First Nation traditionally occupied the central coast around RIVERS INLET and OWIKENO LK and its drainage. Their language is Oowekyala, a form of the northern WAKASHAN Oowekyala-Heiltsuk language; as a result they are usually grouped with the Heiltsuk (Bella Bella) and HAIHAIS (XaiXais) FIRST NATIONS as the HEILTSUK people (see FIRST NATIONS LANGUAGES).
