PEARKES, George Randolph, soldier, politician, lt gov 1960–68 (b 26 Feb 1888, Watford, England; d 30 May 1984, Victoria). After finishing school he immigrated to Alberta in 1906 with his brother and they homesteaded near Red Deer. Prior to WWI he served with the North West Mounted Police in the Yukon.
