RICHARDS, Dallas Murray "Dal," musician (b 5 Jan 1918, Vancouver; d there 31 Jan 2015). A member of the KITSILANO BOYS BAND in his youth, he began his professional career in the late 1930s playing clarinet and saxophones in the VANCOUVER dance bands of Sandy DeSantis and Stan Patton. In 1940 he succeeded Mart KENNEY in directing the orchestra at the Hotel Vancouver's Panorama Roof.
