Ross, Frank Mackenzie


ROSS, Frank Mackenzie, businessman, lt gov 1955–60 (b 14 Apr 1897, Glasgow; d 11 Dec 1971, Vancouver). After immigrating to Canada as a youth he joined the Canadian Bank of Commerce in Montreal. In 1914 he enlisted in the 48th Highlanders and fought in France, where he was severely wounded and decorated for bravery. After the war he joined the St John Drydock and Shipbuilding Co in New Brunswick. He became a wealthy and prominent member of the business community and at the outbreak of WWII...
