Savary Island


SAVARY ISLAND  () is an arc-shaped island ringed by white sand beaches in GEORGIA STRAIT north of POWELL RIVER. It was first mapped by Capt George VANCOUVER in 1792 and possibly named for a French admiral. The original settler, Jack Green, who arrived in the 1880s, was murdered in 1893.
