SEAGRASSES (phylum Anthophyta), flowering vascular plants, are not true grasses but are related to lilies. Eel-grass (Zostera marina and the dwarf Zostera japonica) is a pale green ribbon-like plant that grows in abundant meadows, rooted in sand-mud bottoms in protected or sheltered waters.
