SHINGLE CREEK, an AGRICULTURAL and LOGGING district 14 km west of PENTICTON in the OKANAGAN, was named for the early shingle-cutting operations along its banks. Joe Brent established a large ranch in the area in the early 1900s, which his family maintained for many decades (see CATTLE INDUSTRY).
