Sinclair Mills

SINCLAIR MILLS, 70 km east of PRINCE GEORGE on the FRASER R and VIA Rail, was named after F.N. Sinclair, a railway construction engineer. Don McPhee took over an existing plant in 1925 and developed one of the region's most successful SAWMILLS, noted for the quality of its worker housing. It closed in the late 1960s and only a few dozen people make their home there, relying on LOGGING, mixed farming and TOURISM for their livelihoods.
