SKALBANIA, Nelson, entrepreneur (b 1938, Wilkie, SK). Raised on Vancouver's east side and trained in California as an EARTHQUAKE engineer, he made millions of dollars in the 1970s in real estate deals and became a household name in Canada for his flamboyant lifestyle.
