Slumach Mine


SLUMACH MINE, also known as the Lost Creek Mine, is a legendary GOLD mine in the mountains north of PITT LK in a remote corner of GARIBALDI PROVINCIAL PARK. In 1891 a Coast Salish man named Slumach was hanged for murder. Prior to his death he had been seen around NEW WESTMINSTER with gold nuggets; many people believed that he carried knowledge of a rich gold deposit to his grave.
