SOCIALIST PARTY OF BRITISH COLUMBIA (SPBC) was formed in VANCOUVER in the summer of 1901. It joined moderate socialist reformers and radical "impossiblists" who believed that reform simply delayed the overthrow of capitalism. In the provincial election of 1903 the party ran 10 candidates, 2 of whom were elected, and it emerged as the leading force for socialism in Canada.
