TERASEN GAS INC is the province's main distributor of natural gas, providing natural gas to 940,000 customers in 125 communities. Formerly BC Gas, it took the Terasen name in 2003. In 2005, Kinder Morgan, an American pipeline and gas utilities company, purchased Terasen. Then, in 2007, the company was purchased by Fortis Inc, a Newfoundland-based gas and electric utility business.
