Tryggvason, Bjarni


TRYGGVASON, Bjarni, engineer, astronaut (b 1946, Iceland). He was the sixth Canadian, and first British Columbian, in space. Raised in KITIMAT and RICHMOND, he graduated in engineering from UBC in 1972. He joined the Canadian space program in 1984 and was a member of the crew of the US shuttle Columbia on an 11-day flight in Aug 1997.
