Turkey, Wild

TURKEY, WILD (Meleagris gallopavo), is a large, bare-headed game bird with iridescent plumage and a fan-shaped tail, which the male spreads during courtship. It inhabits wooded areas and feeds on nuts and seeds. Over the years it has been introduced at several locations with mixed success. There are now resident populations on SIDNEY ISLAND and around CRESTON.
