U'mista Cultural Centre


U'MISTA CULTURAL CENTRE is a museum of KWAKWAKA'WAKW culture located in ALERT BAY. The focus of the permanent items on display is the Potlatch Collection. In Dec 1921 Dan Cranmer hosted a POTLATCH on VILLAGE ISLAND in violation of the anti-potlatch law, which was enacted by the federal government in 1884.
