VALDY, born Paul Valdemar Horsdal, singer, songwriter (b 1 Sept 1945, Ottawa). A SALTSPRING ISLAND resident, he is a folk singer known for his warm personal manner, his observations on the human condition and the social commentary in his lyrics. His best-known and first hit was "Rock 'n' Roll Song," recorded in 1972. He won Juno Awards for folk singer of the year in 1973 and 1974 based on the success of his albums Country Man and Landscapes. Other hits include "Simple Life" and "A Good Song."...
